Mahindra Thar 3 Door Side Facing Seats Customization – Coimbatore Workshop Build
Anyone who has driven a Thar 3 Door up the Valparai ghat sections or down the Ooty–Coimbatore stretch knows the stock rear cabin was never built for carrying more than two people comfortably. JeepClub India fabricates custom side facing seat setups for the Thar 3 Door, giving you proper rear seating without losing boot space or structural strength — done in-house at our Peelamedu workshop since 2005.
The stock Thar 3 Door rear space is either empty cargo area or a cramped forward-facing jump seat setup that most owners find uncomfortable on long drives. Our side facing seat customization converts that space into two proper bench-style seats facing each other, ideal for group trail rides to Munnar, Topslip, or weekend convoy runs where you need extra seating without towing a second vehicle.
Every side facing seat frame is fabricated from scratch to match the Thar 3 Door's rear wheel well contours and chassis mounting points. We reinforce the floor mounting with additional bracing, since side facing seats carry lateral loads differently than forward-facing ones — something that matters when you're on camber-heavy ghat roads. Seat cushioning, bolster support, and upholstery are finished in-house, matched to your interior trim or customized per your preference (fabric, leatherette, or leather).
Side facing seat installations include proper seat belt anchor points welded to the chassis, not just bolted to sheet metal. We don't compromise on this — a side facing seat without a correctly engineered belt mount is a liability, not a feature, especially on the winding stretches around Yercaud or the Nilgiris.
This customization works well for Thar 3 Door owners running family trips with 5-6 people, off-road clubs needing extra seating for group expeditions, and anyone converting their Thar into a more practical daily-cum-weekend-trail vehicle.
